Restorative Dentistry in Oakland
Restorative dentistry involves repairing and restoring damaged or missing teeth to their functional and aesthetic state. Whether you are repairing tooth structure with a crown or filling, or replacing a tooth entirely with a bridge or implant, we are here to help. Here are examples of the restorative procedures we offer at our office:
Crowns
Dental crowns, also known as caps, are used to cover a damaged or weakened tooth to protect it. Large fillings with new cavities or cracks, broken teeth, or teeth that have root canals require crowns to retain the strength of the tooth. They can be made from various materials, including porcelain, metal, or a combination of both. Learn about our one visit in-office crowns here.
Fillings
Dental fillings are used to repair teeth that have been affected by cavities or minor damage. They restore the tooth's shape and function while preventing further decay. Most fillings are done with a composite resin, however amalgam (silver) fillings are sometimes still indicated.
Implant Restorations
Dental implants are artificial tooth roots that are placed in the jawbone to support replacement teeth. Implant restorations involve attaching dental crowns, bridges, or dentures to these implants. They can help restore chewing function and spaces in your smile.
Bridges
Dental bridges are used to replace one or more missing teeth by anchoring artificial teeth (pontics) to the adjacent natural teeth or implants. Bridges are a great option for those who are not good candidates for implant restorations.
Veneers
While primarily a cosmetic procedure, dental veneers can also have a restorative function. Veneers are thin shells made of porcelain or composite resin that are bonded to the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance and strength.
Dentures
A denture is a removable dental appliance used to replace missing teeth and their surrounding tissues. A partial denture specifically replaces a few missing teeth and is designed to blend with the remaining natural teeth for improved aesthetics and functionality.
